AmLib was established in 2000 to explore for gold in Liberia, West Africa. Liberia is a highly mineralized but underexplored country in an established mining region. Currently, BHP, Mittal and more than 45 other resource companies are operating in Liberia.
AmLib’s founders are highly experienced entrepreneurs, geologists, geophysicists and political/security analysts with decades of experience in the region. The company’s founders have intimate knowledge of Liberia’s geology and key structural anomalies. AmLib’s properties were chosen based on the experience of the late Dr. Nathaniel Richardson, the former director of the Liberian Geological Survey and a co-founder of AmLib.
Liberia has a favorable regional geology which links into gold-bearing structures known in neighboring countries. The adjacent region supports significant gold mines, particularly on the Syama Belt, such as La Mancha’s Ity mine in Cote d’Ivoire and Randgold’s Morila mine in Mali. The Morila mine currently produces 500,000 ounces of gold per annum at an average cost of US$142/oz.
AmLib is the most advanced gold exploration company in Liberia, with deep in-country relationships, and the only one to have had all of its licenses reaffirmed under every Liberian administration since 2000. AmLib has long been known for its scrupulous business practices and transparent relationship with the Government of Liberia. The operating company's General Manager and the majority of its key field personnel are Liberian.
AmLib holds licenses encompassing multiple properties with a total land surface area of 2,843km². The company's goal is to become the first and largest gold producer in Liberia. AmLib also plans to add to its portfolio of properties and recently obtained new US Geological Survey digital data sets for Liberia, which highlight new opportunities within AmLib’s existing land bank and point to potential other opportunities, including non-gold minerals.
